This delicate looking, curving piece shows the bird in flight with head turned back, displaying its blue and green neck and tailfeathers.  It has a small, chaton-cut, ruby rhinestone for an eye. This little fellow has cost me a lot of time spent in researching my jewelry books.  It was sold to me as a Trifari pin by one of my favorite vendors.  As a matter of fact I had to remove the vendor's handwritten tag identifying it as a Trifari in order to photograph it.  When I went to photograph the signature, I couldn't find it.  I could swear that I have seen this piece in a jewelry book, but got tired of searching for it, as I have over twenty books on the subject.  While it is certainly well-made and beautiful enough to have been an Alfred Philippe design from the 1940's or 1950's, there is no mark. The pin is in wonderful condition, with only a small bit of peeling on the silver finish, which is almost invisible to the naked eye.  The clasp works perfectly and it is 3 inches long and measures 2.75 inches at its widest point.
