They are of the opinion this will give more confidence for buyers to purchase items, although I believe it will create added confusion and hesitancy. As a TITANIUM Powerseller on ebay for 6 strong and wonderful years, I have worked almost beyond physically possible to keep my feedback score at 100% with no negative feedbacks. Even if a customer felt the need to leave a negative feedback, I immediately followed up with them, and did everything reasonably possible to make them happy. At the time of the feedback change, my feedback score was 100% with 7000 positives and only 1 negative. Since that gave me a 99.99% rating, Ebay was kind enough to round it up to 100%, to show how honest and reputable a seller I was. Throughout the years, I received many compliments on this miraculous perfect score, especially dealing with high end diamonds where subjective gradings and crooked local jewelers could potentially give a buyer  an uneasy feeling. During that time, Ebay themselves made a rule that NEUTRAL feedbacks would not count for or against the overall score, since by definition it was a neutral. That rule made perfect sense and was clearly defined to both me and my buyers. I received a few neutrals over the years, and was able to use them as constructive criticism to improve my business, without it hurting my score. Out of nowhere, and without warning, Ebay decided to change their rule and the definition of a neutral, by saying that would count against your score, and worse yet, COUNT THE SAME AS A NEGATIVE. Almost every seller across ebay could not understand how a neutral and a negative could be viewed as the same. Worse yet, they decided to retroactively count neutrals as negatives, without any warning. It is one thing to change a rule going forward, allowing sellers to adapt to the new rule. It is quite another to retroactively punish sellers on an absurd rule change, and essentially change a neutral left by a buyer into a negative, when the buyer themselves chose to leave a neutral and not a negative! This policy change has disturbed my company. I tried so hard to keep a 100% positive rating, and now Ebay has decided to change the rules on me, making it impossible to retain a perfect score. What disturbs me more is the clear confusion this will cause buyers. Overnight, my 100% feedback of 6 strong years and 7000 high priced positive transactions, turned into a 98.8% rating over 1300 transactions, with ZERO negatives, but 13 neutral feedbacks over a 1 year period. Ebay is telling me, that 6 years of great service doesnt count for anything and that they will punish me for neutral feedbacks.What disturbed me even more, was when I browsed other Diamond dealers on ebay, and found another seller who had the same 98% rating at me. The only difference? That seller had 10 Negatives and 3 neutrals! So Ebay is you the buyer and me the seller, that a rating of someone with ZERO negatives and 13 neutrals, should be viewed the same as someone with TEN negatives and 3 neutrals? And this should make buyers more confident? I could go on and on, but it wont change anything. I am just asking all potential buyers to carefully look at the new feedback ratings in detail and make sure to take notice of the neutral/negative ratio, as well as the history past 1 year of transactions.
